PWS Monitoring Violations

Failure to Submit a Disinfectant Level Quarterly Operating Report (DLQOR) Monitoring, Routine (DBP), Major Chlorine

The New Prospect Baptist Church water system PWS ID #2130044 has violated the monitoring and reporting requirements set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in Title 30, Texas Administrative Code (30 TAC), Section 290, Subchapter F.  Public water systems are required to properly disinfect water before distribution, maintain acceptable disinfection residuals within the distribution system, monitor the disinfectant residual at various locations throughout the distribution system and report the results of that monitoring to the TCEQ on a quarterly basis.

Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water is safe from microbial contamination.

These violations occurred in the monitoring periods of 7/1/2013 to 9/30/2013 and 10/1/2013 to 12/31/2013.

We have taken the following action to resolve this issue:

As of September 4, 2014, the public water system (PWS ID #2130044) owned by the New Prospect Baptist Church located at 1964 South FM 199 in Nemo, Somervell County, Texas has been physically disconnected from its groundwater supply well and is no longer in service.  The New Prospect Baptist Church and Brazos River Charter School are now connected to and are served by the Somervell County Water District.

Please share this information with all people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (i.e., people in apartments, nursing homes, schools and businesses).  You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distribution copies by hand or mail.

Routine Monitoring Violation Total Coliform Rule

The New Prospect Baptist Church water system PWS ID #2130044 failed to collect the required number of bacteriological samples for coliform monitoring of the water distribution system during the month of August/2014.  This monitoring is required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s “Drinking Water Standards” and the federal “Safe Drinking Water Act,” Public Law 95-523.

Bacteriological samples are used to monitor water quality and indicate if the water is free of coliform bacteria.  Our water system is required to submit one (1) bacteriological sample each month.  Failure to collect all required bacteriological samples is a violation of the monitoring requirements and we are required to notify you of this violation.

If you have any questions regarding this violation, you may contact S. Sean Saucier at 817.925.5946.

Lead and Copper Monitoring

The New Prospect Baptist Church water system PWS ID #2130044 has violated the monitoring and reporting requirements set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in Title 30, Texas Administrative Code (30 TAC), Section 290, Subchapter F.  Public water systems are required to monitor for Lead and Copper and report the results of that monitoring to the TCEQ.  During the periods of 7/1/2011 to 12/31/201, 1/1/2012 to 6/30/2012, 7/1/2012 to 12/31/2012, 1/1/2013 to 6/30/2013 and 7/1/2013 to 12/31/2013, we did not complete all monitoring and/or reporting for Lead and Copper, and therefore the TCEQ cannot be sure of the safety of your drinking water during that time.
